Monday was an absolutely gorgeous day. Unusually so--like, no rain, sunny, breezy. A perfect day for a touristy tour of the Boyne Valley with a very nice tour company,
Irish Day Tours. We had a new-ish Mercedes-Benz van that held 16 plus driver, and it was a comfortable ride all day. We visited ancient sites and sites that were merely a few centuries old. My fellow tourists were from all over the world and friendly.
Wednesday I had the awesome pleasure of meeting up with bodhran player extraordinaire Robbie Walsh, who gave me some great techniques to work on to improve my playing. He also told me about a couple of sessions in Dublin, and I went to one that evening.
Devitt's Pub has a friendly group on Wednesday nights (music other nights, too), and they were very welcoming. There were a bunch of American students there, as well as a couple of retired American ex-pats who all joined around the table next to the session. Shoulda been doing that all month long; kicking myself that I only now discovered the place!
