After a false start Sunday night, and a nice and unexpected visit with my family in the Philly area on Monday, I arrived at the Philadelphia airport with plenty of time to spare. I maxed out the $20 in food vouchers that the airline gave me, and waited for my flight to leave at 9 pm. The flight was notable for several things: I had exit-row seating (read: leg room!) , a man had a heart attack scare (operative word: scare) and ended up taking my perfect seat about an hour into the flight (me bitter? nah.), We arrived an hour early because of strong headwinds. And I seemed to have gotten over my fear of flying, at least on this flight, where I was relegated to a most-feared window seat and actually enjoyed the scenery.
Arriving in Dublin I acquired a SIM chip for my mobile phone (today's shout-out is sponsored by Kevin Adler, who lent me the unlocked GSM phone...thanks, Kevin!), and now I'm on a bus--with wireless internet--heading to Galway. It should take about 3 hours to get there. I'm looking forward to clean clothes and a shower, not necessarily in that order.
Let the adventure begin! As soon as I take a nap!
